Goodness is often used as a defense to forgive a mistake. However, we certainly know that goodness is different from mistakes. Good deeds must be done with sincerity without selfish motives, and every mistake must be acknowledged and apologized for. Thus, goodness cannot be used as a basis to cover up mistakes.

God spoke to Ezekiel to remind the people of Israel to repent immediately. By stating that the righteousness of the righteous person will not save him when he falls into sin, and the wickedness of the wicked person will not cause him to stumble when he repents from his wickedness, indeed God desires His people to live according to His will with a sincere heart. God emphasizes that life is not about accumulating good deeds, let alone so that the good deeds done can later be used to cover up his sins. Good deeds alone will not save them if their hearts and behaviors deviate. By calling them to repent, God wants everyone to be able to direct their hearts sincerely towards Him, so that they can live according to His will.

God talks about the heart, that life as His people must be lived with a sincere heart. Because sincerity abolishes selfishness and all personal interests. Therefore, let us always direct our hearts sincerely to God so that we are able to always remember God in our hearts and able to live according to His will.
