SEVEN ASPECTS OF RECOGNITION

I have known a married couple for quite a long time, from when we were all still in college until today, more than fifteen years. Initially, my knowledge was limited to personal profiles such as names, hometowns, and majors, but now the recognition has deepened. There are many aspects of this couple's life, especially their journey and faith in Christ, which ultimately lead me to the conclusion, 'They are different from other married couples we have known.'

Recognizing God also requires an approach from many aspects. Today we are given clues on how our recognition of God can succeed, namely when we not only believe, but add seven other aspects, namely virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love for everyone (verse 5-7). Through these seven aspects, when we can consistently apply them, then our recognition will not only rely on 'what people say', but because we have experienced Him and lived the journey of faith personally through various life experiences every day.

Finally, even though our recognition of God is limited as long as we are in this world, it doesn't hurt if we direct each day as an opportunity to know God more than before. Let us make our days as opportunities to truly and deeply know God, until we meet Him in eternity.
