READY TO ANSWER

Baca: 1 Peter 3:13-17

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15)

Bacaan tahunan: Exodus 30-32

The word apologetics comes from the Greek apologia, which means the answer or defend. Apologetics means giving a rational explanation for our faith. Before you can share the Gospel message, we often need to answer the objections and remove barriers that make people not want to accept Christ.

The term is one of them can be found in 1 Peter 3:15, "always be ready to give an account (apologia) to each one of you who hold the hope that is in you." Peter encourages the believers scattered in various locations (1 Peter 1:1) to be ready to explain to people who do not believe if they want to know what moves Christians eager to do good (v. 13) and suffered in the follow Christ (verses 14-17). The wonderful thing here is Peter encouraged the congregation not only to live up to the truth, but also to be prepared to deliver truths which they hope.

Imagine a family member, coworker, or your neighbors are suddenly asked about what the faith and hope that you have in Christ. Is the chance it will go away or it will become an influential moment of truth for the eternal future? What if this scenario is not just imagination, but the fact that you are really going through? What needs to be done so that you are ready at all times? - JOO
