QUALITY OF ALLEGIANCE

Baca: Exodus 19:1-6

... if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession... (Exodus 19:5)

Bacaan tahunan: Luke 15-18

There's an old expression says that the promise is debt. That is, if someone already said a promise then it should be kept. Otherwise, that person could be considered "false promise maker".

Today, we also learned about the appointment. That is a promise between God and His people. This promise was conceived by God and is binding between God and Israel. In this promise God took the initiative to make the nation of Israel "treasured possession among all nations" (verse 5) and the "kingdom of priests and a holy nation" (verse 6). This offer is certainly very special because God Himself promised. God's promise is certain to contain "quality assurance"; no doubt.

The problem is whether the people of Israel is able to meet the requirements to live as covenant people? There is only one requirement: 'obey me fully and keep my covenant "(verse 5). In other words, the people of this agreement must pledge faithfully with all your heart to live as the people belonging to God, which only rely on his word!

We are God's people. For us, God has given Himself and His covenant love. As a response, how is the quality of our loyalty? How does our attitude when problems and difficulties of life come? Do we become disappointed and angry with God, then fled leaving him? Be faithful, be faithful ... although sometimes it feels hard to do. Remember, our faithful God is always ready to support us "on eagle's wings" (v. 4) - DKL

OUR GOD IS FAITHFUL LET OUR LIVES ARE SHOWING FAITHFUL TO HIM
