PRAYER VS. SPELLS

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:11)

In the Arabian Nights tales told about Alibaba became rich thanks to find a spell to open the cave containing treasure deposited by bandits. Whoever he is, it is important mantras correctly, will be able to open or close the cave, and of course enjoy the treasures stored in it.

When Jesus taught his disciples, "Ask and it shall be given you," whether he also was taught that prayer works like a charm? (verses 7-8). Verses 9-11 tell that the real point is that Jesus was encouraging and helping each believer to pray properly. First, we pray because we are children of God. Prayer is a means of communicating and a means to ask the Father in Heaven. Jesus encourages us to dare to say hello and ask. Second, we pray for God himself who asks us to pray. He always hears and answers prayer. His answers are not always exactly what we were asking for, but His love guarantees a perfect gift for his children.

We live in times that are easy and fast, but the prayer did not spell that ensures all our wishes granted. Let's do our part to persevere: ask, seek, knock. Say to God every need and fill our hearts (cf. Philippians 4:6; Psalm 62:9). In the desire to glorify God, we might mistakenly asked for a tablet or a snake. But in His wisdom has always given bread and fish him! - ICW
