Melancholic, choleric, sanguine, and phlegmatic. The theory of human categorization into four personality types are born from the ancient Greek belief that the human body is composed of four kinds of fluid, which in Greek is called melanchole (black bile), chole (yellow bile), phlegm (mucus), and sanguis (blood). According to them, every person has a certain personality tendencies from birth because of differences in the composition of these fluids.

This belief itself has been disputed by modern scientists. However, classification systems are still popular, especially among the laity. Merely as a discussion, it is not a problem. Unfortunately, this classification is often used as an excuse for people to not willing to improve themselves. "I was born with a personality like this, so I was weak in these things," said some people. As if personality and character is no longer possible to change. In fact, every human being is constantly changing throughout his life. The problem is, in which direction he changed?

The Bible teaches that we as people of God must change more and more perfect. Because, after Christ redeemed us, we are called to "built up on him" (verse 7). To the more centered and more perfected in him. So, as long as we do not yet have "a personality like him", we must continue to improve. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are diligent to pursuit the perfection. Build a noble character, leaving the tendencies that are less noble, to mature spiritually and become a channel of blessing to others - ALS
