IMPLICIT FAITH

Baca: Acts 17: 10-15

... they received the word with all of his heart and every day they delve into the Scriptures to find out, whether it was true. (Acts 17: 11)

Bacaan tahunan: Amos 1-5

John Calvin never criticize the faith of the Christians of his day with the term "implicit faith". In other words, we simply believe what delivered people about God's Word, without checking the truth straight from the Bible. Seems good, but what if it turns out erroneously delivered? Isn't the diimani it so get wrong? Apparently, the "implicit faith" also infect the Christians of today. Don't we often heard Christians who claim to know God, but on the grounds that his pastor who taught case. Instead of studying the Scriptures carefully, this person is simply to follow the others.
Not so with the Church in Berea. On the one hand, they received the teaching of Paul and Silas excitedly (the phrase "the willingness of the heart" in paragraph 11 of the word Greece prothymias, a more appropriate if translated phrase "seriousness of the heart"). However, on the other hand, they investigate the teaching under the light of the word of God. They do not practice blind obedience that swallow any slavishly said by human authorities. They test an instruction before memercayainya.
Do we have an "implicit faith"? Are we lazy examine the word of God seriously by our faith and only manut with opinions of others? Milikilah Berea Church attitude that always enthusiastic to learn from others, but also attempts to explore God's Word independently. --JIM
