Woe to you shepherds of Israel who only take care of yourselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock? (Ezekiel 34:2)

David Mukuba Gitari is archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya 1996-2005 period. He dared to convey the prophetic voice for his government, though it makes his life threatened. He believes the leaders of Kenya should follow the example of God's leadership, the Good Shepherd. One time, after preaching in front of many politicians, Gitari told, "Go to the parliament and be a good shepherd."
The words of Gitari necessarily based on the Bible. The Bible often likens God and the government as a shepherd (such as Psalm 23 and Ezekiel 34, we read today). That's it, the ideal government in the Bible is like the good shepherd; care of and protect the people. And it is true that the government should emulate the ways of God shepherd His people.
Unfortunately, many governments in the world did not do so. In the days of Ezekiel, God must be angry with the leaders of Israel are even "shepherding themselves". They take advantage of most of the people, ignoring the welfare of the people (verses 3-6). So, God appeared as their opponents, because all people really are the people of God (verse 10).
If we are government officials, in high or low position, remember that we are privileged to imitate God's leadership. Do not waste this honor. Run your leadership in a responsible manner. If we are ordinary people, remember to pray for the officials. If there is an opportunity, we can also say to them, "Go to work and be a good shepherd" - SAT
THE WISE GOVERNMENT MUST IMITATE THE LORD COMMANDING WAY
