Baca: Genesis 6:9-22
Noah did everything just as God commanded him. (Gen 6:22)
Bacaan tahunan: Deuteronomy 3-4
The word "faith" is often referred to in daily conversation without any more thought out the truth. Surely we have heard phrases like: "Let us have faith that this day will not rain" or "We believe that God will meet the funding of this retreat," and so on. However, is this what is meant by faith?
When God asked Noah to make the ark because God will punish man with a flood, he immediately did (verse 22). Humanly speaking he does not have sufficient basis to believe such a command and promise. However, it does not require God to provide flood drizzle over the years or just a knee-length prior to sustain his conviction. For him, God himself is a guarantee of fulfillment of the promise. Personal belief in relying on God and His Word. He believes that what God says is always true and that he could keep his word. That is the response of living in fellowship with God (verse 9). That is faith! Faith is a form of homage to the God we believe in his perfection. Such faith will be followed up in unconditional obedience.
How far we exercise our faith? Do we seek to understand all the commands and promises of God correctly? Do we love to obey what God has revealed clearly or we prefer to claim that is not necessarily what God intended? Be careful if it's been a lot of us actually believe the things that God never commanded or promised. - PBS
