Baca: Exodus 3
Bacaan tahunan: Genesis 4-7
The encounter of young David Livingstone, a missionary from Scotland, with Robert Moffat, a missionary in Africa, changed David's life path. He then saw the vision that God gave through Robert Moffat's testimony about the need of people in Africa for the Gospel. A life-changing encounter because of finding God's call.
That's also what Moses experienced. That day, Moses was across the desert, around Mount Horeb. He was there as a shepherd of his father-in-law's livestock. Moses seemed to be trying to forget his past in Egypt. However, God did not forget Moses and took the initiative to meet him personally. Through the sight of a burning bush that was not consumed by fire, God spoke to Moses and called him to save the people of Israel. God introduced Himself as the Holy God so Moses had to take off his sandals. God also introduced Himself as the God of Moses' ancestors and the God who does not forget His people. Moses learned to see his life's direction not only from his own perspective, but from God's perspective. Moses learned to see the needs of God's people not just as his own needs. Moses learned to see God's call.
Until today, God continues to work in our lives personally. He wants us to know Him correctly and find our life's calling. Encounter with God and knowing God will indeed change our lives, from living for ourselves to living for the Lord. Are we willing to submit ourselves to Him?
