Baca: PSALM 16
Bacaan tahunan: 2 Kings 18-19
Nowadays, many people are racing to find happiness through the glowing world. Shopping malls are always crowded, music concerts are filled with audiences, and social media is flooded with photos of luxurious vacations or remarkable achievements. From the outside, everything looks beautiful, as if life is full of bright colors. However, behind all of that, many feel emptiness, loneliness, and spiritual exhaustion. The visible glow is often not accompanied by peace and joy in their hearts.
Psalm 16 describes David's experience which is different from the current worldly pursuit. He declares that it is the Lord who is the portion and inheritance of his life. For David, life is not about wealth, power, or popularity. Instead, life is about being in the presence of God. Verse 11 affirms that the path of life is only found when we are close to Him. Because, true joy can only be found in God.
This joy is not a fleeting feeling that arises because of ideal conditions. Instead, it is a gift that flows from a personal relationship with God. The glow of the world can deceive: providing temporary pleasures, then disappearing. However, the joy from the Lord sustains the heart, even in the midst of difficulties and suffering.
The question is, are we seeking satisfaction in the glow of the world or in the presence of the Lord? Are we busier chasing worldly things or building intimacy with God? The Psalmist invites us to rearrange the focus of our lives. Let us not be trapped in pursuing temporary pleasures, but losing eternal joy. Let us learn to live in the presence of the Lord more than chasing the glow of the world. --SAP/www.renunganharian.net
A LUXURIOUS AND STRIKING LIFE WILL BE EMPTY, A SIMPLE LIFE WILL BE MEANINGFUL IF THE LORD IS WITHIN.
