AS BARNABAS

Baca: 1 Corinthians 9: 1-12

Or just me and Barnabas are some who do not have the right to be exempt from the work of hands? (1 Corinthians 9: 6)

Bacaan tahunan: Judges 4-5

The name of Barnabas was first referred to as one of the members of the early Church in Jerusalem in acts 4: 36-37. Barnabas means "son of encouragement", and indeed he live up to his name. He sold his farm and offered her money to be used to help the congregation that lack. When Paul new converts and many have suspected the former persecutor of the Church, the Barnabaslah accompany and defend it.
In reading today we come across his name again. Along with his partner, Paul, Barnabas still work to meet daily needs during the serve to the Corinthians (verse 6). Actual reasonable if the Church financed the life of Barnabas and Paul, because they have done a lot of things to serve the Congregation, but they did not use that right. Why? Because their main goal is to bring people repent and come to the Lord (v. 12b), instead of looking for the money. Barnabas looked at the money, effort, and skill it works not as a right, but a means to serve, he wears.
Sometimes the focus of our Ministry could also continuing to blur. In the midst of a world that gives his own definition of Justice, it could be that we start counting our service does have pretty much appreciated. Our attention is fixed on the rights which, according to we have to we receive, rather than thinking about how to use the right to serve the Lord gave. Like Barnabas, lets point our focus on the goal should be, bringing further know and love the Lord. And, let's use every resource God provide to complement each other in the body of Christ, in order to achieve that goal. -ELS
