Read: DANIEL 6
Bible in a year: Psalms 1-8
A man felt desperate. His business was ruined, and he was burdened with debts. His friend came to his house to comfort him. His friend suggested that he pray. "What's the use? The situation won't change even if I pray. My business is still ruined, and my debts are still there," the man said weakly. "You calm down!" his friend patted his back, "Even though the situation doesn't change, God is still able to declare His power."
King Darius intended to appoint Daniel as the chief over his whole kingdom. This intention aroused jealousy in the hearts of high officials and the vice-regents. They instigated the king to issue a decree that no one should make any petition to any god or man for thirty days, except to the king. If violated, that person would be thrown into the lions' den. Soon Daniel became a defendant. They arrested him while he was praying and supplicating to his God. The laws of the Medes and Persians could not be repealed (v. 13). The decree could not be revoked. It means, for Daniel, the situation couldn't change. He had to be thrown into the lions' den. Interestingly, even then God didn't lose! He was still able to declare His power. God shut the lions' mouths so they didn't harm Daniel (v. 23).
God's omnipotence is unmatched. In every situation, He never loses, His power is always manifested in various ways. So let us never be shaken by unchangeable situations. Don't be discouraged to face seemingly unsolvable problems. Let's come to God in prayer because He is always able to help us. God will open a way that we never even expected. --LIN/www.renunganharian.net
