Bible in a year: Nehemiah 12-13
Why are all kinds of skincare products and food and beverages claimed to keep us young becoming the best-selling commodities? Apparently, the desire to look young and fresh is the dream of many people. The magnet of youthfulness is so meaningful, especially in this era. However, no matter how hard we try, we are not exempt from the aging process.
King David was the same. When he was young, he defeated many enemies. His enemies were defeated by him and his people. David's name was so feared by his enemies. However, when he was old, his body was getting cold. David's servants made efforts to keep him warm. David was already weak so he spent a lot of time lying in bed. Fortunately, besides leaving a legacy, David also had assistants who feared the Lord. David had prepared successors, namely Solomon. Then he also did not hesitate to bow down to his own son who became his successor king.
It is important for us to keep ourselves healthy and energetic in our old age. Savings for our own health should ideally start when we are young. However, looking young should not be an obsession or even the center of our lives. We need to learn from David. He not only went through the aging process but also prepared his leadership successors. What remained the focus of David's life was the Lord. That is why, Christ is also called the son of David, indicating that the Lord values David. --HEM/www.renunganharian.net
EACH OF US GOES THROUGH THE AGING PROCESS. HOWEVER, OUR LIFE MUST REMAIN FOCUSED ON CHRIST.
