Read: MATTHEW 5:13-16
Bible in a year: Ezra 1-3
Kindness is contagious. It can create a positive domino effect that triggers more people to do good deeds. When someone does good sincerely, they themselves will experience happiness, as well as the person receiving the act of kindness. It is highly likely that they will in turn do good to others. Eventually, a chain of goodness will occur, becoming longer and impacting more widely.
Therefore, it is necessary for people to be role models in doing good. Their kindness can be a trigger or inspiration for others to join in doing good things. This is what Jesus commanded His followers. He emphasized that one of our responsibilities is to be the light of the world. Like a lamp that is lit to illuminate its surroundings, so is the presence of every follower of Christ. Its function is evident. Its presence has an impact. Its existence helps others to live a better life. Their life testimony even shines far away, like a city on a hill that shines brightly in the dark night.
Of course, Jesus does not encourage us to show off our goodness in front of others. We do good not to impress others, then praise ourselves. Instead, we do good because that is our true identity and calling as children of God. We are not ashamed to acknowledge and show a good life testimony as children of God. As a result, acts of kindness will lead people to glorify God, who is the source of that goodness itself. --HT/www.renunganharian.net
WE DO GOOD NOT TO IMPRESS OTHERS, BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THE LIFE OF GOD'S PEOPLE SHOULD BE LIVED.
