Read: ACTS 7:54-60
Bible in a year: 1 Chronicles 9-11
A father never attended the worship service whenever a certain servant of God delivered the word of God because he had once felt pierced by the word delivered by that servant of God.
In the Bible, it is told that people gave different responses to the word of God delivered. When Peter preached, the hearts of those who heard Peter's words were deeply touched and they asked Peter what they should do. Peter answered that they should repent and be baptized. They accepted his words and were baptized, and on that day about three thousand souls were added. (Acts 2:37-41). On the contrary, when members of the Council heard the words of Stephen - full of grace and power - their hearts were pierced. They welcomed him with gnashing of teeth. They shouted and rushed at him. They dragged him out of the city, and then stoned him. (verses 54, 57-58).
How do we respond when we hear the word of God? Do not easily be pierced and welcome it with gnashing of teeth, instead be easily moved and accept the word of God with humility, be willing to be corrected and repent. Be good soil, the one who hears the word of God and understands it, and because of that, bears fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty times (Matt. 13:23). --IN/www.renunganharian.net
BE SOMEONE WHO WELCOMES THE WORD WITH AWE AND REPENTANCE, NOT WITH PIERCING AND GNASHING OF TEETH.
