COLD COFFEE

Read: 1 SAMUEL 2:27-36

Bible in a year: 2 Kings 23-25

"Do not blame if your coffee is cold. Because it used to be warm but you ignored it." That was one of the quotes that once passed through my social media timeline. This expression is a reprimand to someone who regrets missing valuable moments in their life. That mistake results in them obtaining something unpleasant in the present. The more valuable things we neglect, the greater the regrets it brings.

Eli and his two sons underestimated the role of the priest they held. As priests, they were the ones appointed by God to be representatives of His people, tasked with overseeing the worship of His people, including offering sacrifices. God had established various rules as their guidelines. However, they ignored all those rules. They did not respect the Lord, acted greedily, and engaged in various immoral actions. As a result, God was angry and decreed His punishment. Eli's family would be destroyed by Him. Even their surviving descendants would beg for the opportunity to serve as priests, just to get a little food.

There are so many valuable things that many people neglect, more than just letting coffee go cold. Often we only realize it after the valuable thing slips away from our grasp. Sadly, we do not always have a second chance to fix it. Regretting it also does not change the situation for the better. Therefore, we should learn to appreciate every goodness, and be grateful for it, so that later we will not sink into regret. --HT/www.renunganharian.net

SO THAT THE BITTERNESS OF REGRET DOES NOT SUDDENLY STRIKE, LET'S LIVE A LIFE FULL OF GRATITUDE AND RESPONSIBILITY.
