TROUBLING SIN

Read: Genesis 42:1-25

Bible in a year: 2 Samuel 22-24

Joseph's brothers who came to Egypt to buy grain because of a severe famine that struck the land of Canaan trembled in fear when Joseph, as the ruler of Egypt whom they did not know at that time, ordered that one of them be detained in Egypt and they had to bring their younger brother, Benjamin, along when they returned. This seemed to confirm that a curse befell them for selling Joseph to Egypt.

We may be able to hide very well the sin we have committed in the past, even no one mentions it, but sooner or later the sin that we do not settle before the Lord may be revealed again until our hearts become so anxious and there is no peace in the days we live. It is better for us to immediately settle our matters before the Lord by confessing the evil we have done and immediately repenting, rather than letting it drag on by justifying ourselves until there is no sense of security in our lives.

Covering up transgressions may be something we can do for so long, but extreme fear can suddenly arise when an event occurs that makes our lives complicated to the point where we think that this is God's retribution for the sins we have committed. Therefore, embrace His grace that will cleanse all our sins right now! --KSD/www.renunganharian.net
