Read: LUKE 22:24-34
Bible in a year: Judges 13-15
During the last supper before Jesus was arrested, He informed Peter about Satan's plan against him. With full confidence, Peter answered Jesus that he was steadfast in faith to follow Jesus, even willing to die with Jesus. However, in fact Peter did deny Jesus just as Jesus had prophesied.
Thanks to God, Peter's faith was still preserved even though it was tested. Peter fell, but did not fall flat. Peter failed, but did not completely fail. The root of his faith remained so that it grew back. This happened thanks to Jesus who had prayed for him. Yes, Peter's faith remained preserved in the strength of God and the intercession of Jesus.
The struggle of faith, with its ups and downs, made Peter a militant servant of the Lord. He realized the importance of fully relying on the Lord, because his own firmness and strength would never be able to overcome the temptations of Satan. Peter did not know his own heart, while the Lord Jesus knew him far better.
After his repentance, Peter fulfilled the task given to him by Jesus. He helped others as he himself had been helped by God. He who was brought to repentance and restored by the grace of God also ministered to restore others. He who had and continued to struggle to uphold his faith, strengthened and built the faith of others. The love of God that he received he proclaimed, so that others also receive the love of God. FAILURE OCCURS BECAUSE OF RELYING ON ONE'S OWN STRENGTH. PRAYING AND FULLY DEPENDING ON THE FATHER BRINGS VICTORY.
