GROWING IN KNOWING CHRIST

Read: 2 PETER 3:17-18

Bible in a year: Judges 1-2

If we have a right relationship with someone, the longer we know them, the more we will learn about them. The more time we spend with them, we will definitely get to know their character, habits, likes, hobbies, and routines. We will also understand what they dislike and what displeases them.

To the early Christians who faced various challenges to their faith, including persecution and false teachings, the Apostle Peter sent a letter to strengthen and remind them to be vigilant, so as not to be led astray, but to hold fast to their faith. However, this does not mean they should only be passive or defensive. They also need to be active, experiencing spiritual growth. They need to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus.

Growing means experiencing increase or improvement from their previous position. The more they appreciate the great grace of Christ that saved them, the more they understand His heart, and the more they reflect behaviors that align with His Word. This should be reflected in how they live each day in relationships with others, for example, being more thankful, serving others diligently, being patient with difficult people, or forgiving easily. And this also applies to us, as well as to all followers of Christ. The longer we follow Christ, our lives should echo louder and our testimony should be stronger to glorify His name. --HT/www.renunganharian.net
