THE WAY BACK HOME IS AVAILABLE

Read: HOSEA 14:1-4

Bible in a year: Joshua 22-24

In the time of Hosea, the people of Israel lived in a daily atmosphere that increasingly moved away from God. They indulged in pleasures, sought strength from foreign nations, and worshipped idols. Their cities were adorned with magnificent pagan temples. They completely ignored the presence of God, who had brought them out of slavery. However, in the midst of this betrayal, the voice of the prophet was heard loud and clear: there is still a way to return to God.

The word of the Lord through Hosea reveals hope and opportunity. God does not close the door to sinful people. On the contrary, He invites, "Return, O Israel" (verse 2). This is not just an invitation, but also a promise that God intends to heal, forgive, and restore them. The way back home is available. Not through rituals and outward efforts, but through heartfelt confession.

Today's Bible reading confirms that what God desires is not burnt offerings, but honest lip confession (verse 3). Sincere words of regret before the Lord are more valuable than the greatest offerings. This is the essence of repentance, returning with a broken heart and a mouth willing to confess sins before the Lord.

For us, Hosea's message is so relevant. No matter how far we have strayed from the Lord, the way back home remains open. God is always faithful and waiting. He awaits our willingness to come to Him with honesty and confession. When we are ready to rush back home, He is ready to welcome us with His smile and loving embrace. --SAP/www.renunganharian.net
