OPENING THE HEART

Read: REVELATION 3:14-22

Bible in a year: Joshua 19-21

The congregation of Laodicea was materially rich. Therefore, they felt comfortable and secure. They were satisfied spiritually. Unfortunately, the Lord considered them lukewarm. They lacked fervor in faith and failed to realize the need for God. They were wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked (verse 17). Therefore, the Lord advised them to "buy gold refined in the fire", which is true spiritual wealth from the Lord, "white clothes", which is a righteous life before God, and "eye salve", which is spiritual sensitivity to see the truth.

Jesus described Himself as someone who knocks on the door, waiting for the homeowner to open it. Jesus waits to enter the hearts of the congregation, to rebuke them to open their hearts and repent. This illustrates that humans have free will so Jesus does not force His way in. Only when they are willing to open their hearts to Him, that's when a close personal relationship of love is established.

The Lord is always knocking on the door of our hearts through His word, prayer, rebuke, and even crises in life. However, the choice is in our hands, to open our hearts or reject Him. Remember, opening our hearts to the Lord enables us to receive true life. A life of peace, meaning, and purpose. Healing and restoration. It also produces fruits in life. And all of this will only happen when we unite with Him in obedient faith. And faith begins with repentance because there is a heart open to God. --EBL/www.renunganharian.net

NOT PERFECT INDIVIDUALS, THE LORD DESIRES OUR HEARTS TO BE OPEN FOR HIS PERFECTION.
