Read: JOHN 15:1-8
Bible in a year: Deuteronomy 28-29
A busy farmer was cutting branches of his grapevine. Due to a long drought, many plants in the village died of thirst. Strangely, the farmer's grape garden continued to bear fruit. "Why does your grapevine still bear fruit, even though there is no rain?" asked his neighbor. The farmer explained, "Because grapevines have strong roots and can seek water sources deep into hidden springs."
Jesus describes our relationship with Him like a vine and branches. The vine is the source of life and the ability to bear fruit. The branches can only live and bear fruit if they remain attached to the vine. Jesus said that branches that bear fruit will be pruned, tested, and even pressed to produce more fruit. This is part of the growth process so that the branches can bear more fruit.
When we are under pressure, whether in work, finances, or even ministry, we are reminded not to withdraw from the Lord. We are taught that in pressure, our roots of faith are deepened. He says, "Remain in Me." Abiding in Him means maintaining a relationship with Him through prayer, the Word, and obeying Him even when it is uncomfortable. The pressures of life we experience are not a sign that the Lord has abandoned us, but a means to strengthen our dependence on Him. Thus, we continue to bear fruit and become a testimony to many people. --SYS/www.renunganharian.net
THE PRESSURES OF LIFE CAN MAKE MANY PEOPLE FAINT-HEARTED, BUT THOSE WHO ABIDE IN CHRIST WILL REMAIN STRONG AND BEAR FRUIT.
