Party pooper is a term that refers to someone who tends to spoil the atmosphere or enjoyment at an event, especially a party. A party pooper often complains, brings up negative things, or acts pessimistic, making people around them feel uncomfortable or in a bad mood in a short time. The sooner we recognize people like this, the more time we have to find ways to counteract the negative influence of their actions.
That day, Haman returned in a fit of rage. His joy and pride were disturbed when he saw Mordecai refuse to bow down to him. The presence of his wife and friends could not calm the anger within Haman, who then readily agreed to the suggestion of erecting a pole to hang Mordecai. That wicked plan, somehow, was even considered good by Haman. Fortunately, God quickly acted to save Mordecai, and Haman's evil plan turned against himself (Esther 6-7).
The Bible teaches us to rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep (Romans 12:15). This means there should be no room for the spirit of a party pooper to grow and dominate our lives so that we are kept away from the possibility of doing evil deeds. Haman's life experience serves as a reminder for us to be careful when envy, jealousy, hatred, and anger begin to sneak in without having to make them our own personal experience. --GHJ/www.renunganharian.net
