IF LOVE TRULY EXISTS

Read: 1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-8

Bible in a year: Numbers 16-17

The Apostle Paul states that love is always manifested in good attitudes and actions: patient, polite, humble, generous, fair, selfless, prioritizing truth, able to bear everything, and many other good deeds (verses 4-7). In other words, good attitudes and actions - no matter what form they take and to what extent they are - are an indication, a sign, or proof of the existence of love in the heart.

What does this mean for daily life?

If true love exists in our hearts, we cannot possibly see others in distress and not be moved to help, nor can we consider others' difficulties as opportunities to profit. If true love exists in the heart, we cannot intentionally leave a damaged earth for our descendants, nor can we be indifferent to the preservation of nature and the environment. If love truly exists in our hearts, we cannot belittle others, whoever they may be. And so on, and so forth.

That's how it is. If love truly exists in the heart, it will naturally be manifested in good attitudes and actions. Always, never otherwise. So, if a situation calls, and we have what is needed by that situation, but there is no good attitude or action that we do in response to that situation, what can we say about ourselves? --EE/www.renunganharian.net
