AFTER REALIZATION

Read: LUKE 22:24-38

Bible in a year: Numbers 3-4

When a dispute occurs, we often hope that the conflict can be resolved as soon as possible. However, hope is often far from reality. It is not uncommon for the dispute to escalate, drag on, and cause deeper wounds. If both parties are not willing to improve themselves, or do not take the initiative to seek peaceful solutions, the dispute will damage, even sever relationships that were previously good.

On the night before Jesus was arrested and then crucified, His disciples were actually busy arguing. They questioned who among them could be considered the greatest. Truly pitiful! Instead of focusing on the suffering Christ faced, they were busy with themselves. Very selfish. They even competed for recognition of who had the most important role so that they deserved to be the leader after Jesus was no longer with them. Peter even boasted that he was willing to die with Jesus.

Who knows what Jesus felt at that time. He then taught them that to be a leader, they must be willing to serve. Humble themselves. Consider others more important. That's how Christ's disciples should live. And Jesus gave them time to reflect on it. Later, after they understood, they would realize. Repent. Turn back to the right path. When that moment comes, Jesus commanded Peter to strengthen the other disciples. Although addressed to Peter, this message applies to all of us to realize the truth of Christ's command and be willing to make peace and commit to serving Him. --HT/www.renunganharian.net
