LOVE IN SILENCE

Read: Ruth 2:5-13

Bible in a year: Leviticus 11-13

One bright day in Boaz's field, Ruth gleaned the leftover barley. She did this to provide for her mother-in-law and herself. Ruth was a foreign woman from Moab, a widow with no wealth, no citizenship status, and no protection. Meaning, she was insignificant. However, her life spoke louder than her identity. Without many words, it turns out Ruth lived out love and loyalty extraordinarily!

Boaz testified, "It has been fully reported to me all that you have done for your mother-in-law ..." (verse 11). This is Boaz's acknowledgment of Ruth's love that she did quietly, yet visibly. Without seeking attention, Ruth became a true love practitioner - a love that dares to sacrifice and endure in difficulties.

In today's era of social media, many people are competing to be highlighted and appreciated. However, Ruth's story reminds us that genuine love does not need the spotlight. God sees what is hidden. Precisely because it is done in silence, it is pleasing in His sight.

Ruth did not know that her love would later bring great blessings - she became part of the lineage of King David, and even Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:1-17). This proves that love done in silence is also used by Him to move great plans.

Let us learn from Ruth, to love in silence, and believe that God never fails to fulfill His plans through the love we wholeheartedly live. --SAP/www.renunganharian.net

LOVE WITHOUT SELF-INTEREST IS ALWAYS PRICELESS; FEAR CANNOT PAY FOR IT, ARROGANCE CANNOT UNDERSTAND IT, AND FRIENDS WILL NEVER FORGET IT. -BOB GOFF
