SEEING WITH FAITH

Read: Genesis 41:1-45

Bible in a year: Genesis 39-40

A young man complained because he always failed to build a business. "Has God stopped working in my life?" he said. His friend invited him out to the yard. It was nighttime, so the sun was no longer shining. "Look, the sun has stopped working," said his friend. "The sun is still working," the young man replied spontaneously, "it's just shining on the other side of the earth." His friend smiled and said, "God is still working. You just need to see it with faith."

When he was young, Joseph dreamed of seeing sheaves of wheat belonging to his brothers bowing down to his sheaf. He then dreamed of seeing the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing down to him (Genesis 37:7, 9). God gave signs of His work through dreams. God intended to exalt him as a ruler. Then Joseph was sold by his brothers as a slave (Genesis 37:28). He was then falsely accused and imprisoned (Genesis 39:17-20). It seemed like God had stopped working. However, Joseph did not lose hope. With his faith, he saw that God's work was still ongoing. So he continued diligently doing his tasks. One day Pharaoh called him to interpret his dreams (verse 14). That day he was given a position as a ruler (verse 41). The end result of God's work was evident. Indeed, all this time He had still been working. The series of previous sufferings were connected by Him to bring Joseph to the peak where he was at that moment.

Right now, things may not be going smoothly. In fact, we may be facing many difficulties. Remind yourself that God is still working. Look with faith as His hands continue to weave something good for us! Anticipate with full hope the results of God's work that will surely amaze our hearts. --LIN/www.renunganharian.net
