WHEN ONE DOOR IS CLOSED

Read: 1 THESSALONIANS 2:13-20

Bible in a year: Genesis 43-45

For a long time I tried to understand Paul's comment that Satan had hindered his intention to visit the Thessalonian church. And indeed, the intention of the visit failed! I thought that if someone has good intentions, especially a great desire to preach the Gospel, wouldn't the Lord accompany them? However, why is it not uncommon for many obstacles to try to thwart that noble ministry?

The great desire of the Apostle Paul and his friends to visit and serve the church in Thessalonica turned out to be hindered and thwarted by Satan. From the beginning, Paul realized that Satan would continue to obstruct the ministry of believers. Satan clearly does not like it when people hear about the work of Christ's salvation. That's why Satan uses some people to throw threats and persecute, in order to stop Paul's efforts. Yes, Paul did fail to attend Thessalonica, but he could write a letter to the church. And, that letter has become a source of blessing and comfort not only for the church of Thessalonica, but also for believers from generation to generation!

Do our efforts in preaching the Gospel often face thwarting efforts? Paul's failed visit gives us an understanding that Satan will continue to fight to prevent people from hearing the good news. However, we are also assured that the Lord will turn the enemy's strategy into a path of goodness for His kingdom. When one door is closed, the Lord is able to open other doors. --SYS/www.renunganharian.net

THE PATH OF SPREADING THE GOSPEL IS NOT ALWAYS SMOOTH, BUT THE LORD IS ALWAYS ABLE TO OPEN NEW WAYS.
