RESTORED TO RESTORE

Read: LUKE 8:26-39

Bible in a year: Genesis 8-11

An old mother lights a lantern every night in the window of her hut. The light of the lantern becomes a guide for travelers passing through the village. One night a young pedestrian stopped by her hut. The mother welcomed him warmly and shared a story about how the lantern was taken from the trash. "This lantern was once broken and thrown away by its owner, but I fixed it and lit it again, now the light can share hope with others." The Bible tells of a man who was possessed by an evil spirit. The man lived in a graveyard, isolated from family and society, bound by darkness. However, Jesus drove out the evil spirit, restored his sanity and life. After being restored, Jesus did not leave him alone. He commanded him to go home and proclaim to the crowds about the great deeds of the Lord in his life. And the man went around the whole town telling everyone what Jesus had done for him. So, we were once broken and discarded because of sin. However, Jesus picked us up and restored our lives. He made us a new and precious creation. He also reminds us: we are restored not just for ourselves, but to be a blessing and restorer to others. Do we remember this message? Have we testified to everyone about the deeds of the Lord that have restored our lives? -SYS/www.renunganharian.net
