ONLY IF THE LORD ACCOMPANIES

Read: EXODUS 33:1-16

Bible in a year: 2 Corinthians 5-9

Israel is on their way to Canaan. Due to their bad behavior, the Lord no longer pleased to walk with them. The Lord will send His angel to lead the nation. He declared that even though led by an angel, the nation will safely arrive in Canaan and inherit it.

Hearing that, Israel was deeply saddened. For them, being accompanied and with the Lord is absolutely crucial. If the Lord is not with them, reaching and possessing Canaan means nothing at all. They mourned and took off all their ornaments (verse 4). They mourned. Representing his people, Moses said to the Lord, "If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here."

For some people, getting everything they desire is everything, the most important thing in life, the ultimate goal. Any path they will take to have it all. If the path within the Lord fails, they have no hesitation to take the path outside the Lord, as long as they can have what they desire.

However, the above story tells us that for believers, walking with the Lord, being with the Lord, is absolutely crucial to the extent that without the Lord, everything means nothing. If achieved through a path not accompanied by the Lord, no matter how great the achievement is, it is completely worthless.

The question is: Which path have we taken and will take to get the things we desire? The path accompanied and accompanied by the Lord, or the path outside the Lord? -EE/www.renunganharian.net
