Read: 1 TIMOTHY 3:1-7
Bible in a year: Mark 1-3
As a pastor of a congregation, I am very happy when the members of the congregation I serve are willing to take part in ministry. Indeed, this is something noble! (verse 1). Servants of God are certainly expected to lead a good life within the community of God's people. However, it turns out that it is not enough.
Although 1 Timothy 3 mainly talks about the qualifications that must be possessed by overseers of the church (Gr: episkopos, leaders in ministry), but the demands actually also apply to every Christian. That is, he should have commendable character qualities, both inside the house and outside. He is not a person who wears a mask, pretends or is hypocritical. Instead, he is someone who truly has integrity. His life is whole. His character is sincere, not fabricated. He becomes a person whose quality is equally good, wherever he is. Thus, he will have a good reputation, even outside the congregation, when interacting with people who do not know God.
A good name is obtained from good behavior and deeds done by someone consistently. Not just once or twice. A good name does not come just like that. But it is born from a life lived with quality. It impacts others positively. Becomes a blessing to others. Not just within the community of believers. As a result, even non-Christians will show respect for the life he lives. Everyone will see that it is a fruit of his faith. May every follower of Christ reflect such a fruitful life, both inside and outside the church.

HAVING A GOOD REPUTATION OUTSIDE THE COMMUNITY OF BELIEVERS IS EVIDENCE THAT OUR LIFE HAS BECOME A TESTIMONY
