THRILLING YET DELIGHTFUL

Read: EXODUS 14:15-31

Bible in a year: Habakkuk, Zephaniah

A servant of God testifies that following the Lord feels thrilling yet delightful, experiencing many horrors, facing very desperate and dire situations; but in the end, it feels delightful when the Lord helps right on time.

The Israelites experienced a terrifying situation when they saw the Egyptians chasing and catching up to them while camping by the sea. The Israelites said, 'Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? But Moses reassured the people not to be afraid and to stand firm, to see the salvation of the Lord. The Lord instructed Moses to lift up his staff and stretch out his hand over the sea to divide it so that the Israelites could walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground. The Egyptians pursued them, entering the sea after them. The Lord told Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea to make the waters return and cover the Egyptians, and in the morning watch the sea returned to its normal state. Thus the Lord threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea.

I too have often experienced thrilling yet delightful feelings. When in a desperate situation—having to pay overdue bills—the Lord opened up various ways; it felt so delightful when someone who owed us for two years without notice suddenly settled the debt; our rental property, which had been empty for seven months, suddenly found a tenant. When facing desperate and cornered situations, trust that the Lord is able to help right on time so that we experience relief and it feels so delightful.
