THE FRUIT OF ARROGANCE

Read: ISAIAH 16

Bible in a year: Daniel 7-9

A friend shared how he suffered from GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease where stomach acid rises to the esophagus). "I got GERD because of my own arrogance," he said. "Every time there was a viral snack offering different levels of spiciness, I always tried the highest level. I wanted recognition through my bravery in eating spicy food."

Arrogance can lead people to destruction. Due to their pride, Moab, known for their fields and vineyards, was prophesied to face ruin. The Lord will turn their joy into mourning, their glory and great noise into shame. Because Moab refused to accept good advice. They thought they were too wise to be advised. They were unwilling to submit to God, and ignored the warnings He gave them. Therefore, the punishment of the Lord upon Moab is inevitable. It is even said that the people of Moab worked hard to climb the hill to their place of worship to pray, but to no avail. Isaiah, the prophet, could do nothing but mourn the inevitable destruction that would befall all the beautiful inland regions of Moab.

Does arrogance, pride, and self-esteem hinder our repentance? Do they close our hearts from seeing the power, greatness, and love of God? Let the story of Moab be a lesson for us to reflect upon. So that we are not blinded by arrogance and end up in destruction.

GOD ALWAYS LONGS TO RENEW OUR LIVES WITH HIS BLESSINGS. DO NOT LET THE ARROGANCE OF OUR HEARTS HINDER HIS OUTPOUR OF LOVE.
