THREE ANIMALS, ONE KING

Read: PROVERBS 30:29-31

Bible in a year: Ezekiel 5-8

The process of learning about life that lasts until a person takes their last breath can truly come from anywhere. Sometimes we can learn from personal experiences, but the world around us also provides plenty of things to observe, from which we can take wisdom and apply it to our personal lives so that our lives become better.

The writer of Proverbs today asks us to observe three animals, plus a king, which have a common thread about caution against pride. Starting from the lion, the king of the jungle who does not know the word retreat because of its mighty strength, followed by the arrogance of the rooster walking without ever bowing down, then the male goat ready to butt anyone who tries to disturb it, and a king with great power and influence. These four situations, which have been proven to trap humans into pride, should be watched out for because many people are still ensnared by it.

For believers, the true source of strength is only found in the Lord. Through His word, we are taught to live in humility, learn to restrain ourselves when tempted to retaliate, and not rely on influence or power that can be taken away at any time if the Lord wills. Remember that exaltation comes from God (Psalm 75:7-8). God, who is never wrong when He wants to exalt those who know how to guard themselves against pride. Are you the one He is looking for?
