Thoughts for Today
Today's world can be a frightening and depressing place. Morals declining. Economies struggling and toppling. Terrorism striking around the globe. The number of people suffering from stress and depression grows . . . and grows.
There is only one answer: Jesus. Jesus and his love. As Christians, we can help one another through these difficult times by loving one another. And that love can speak volumes to the world about their only hope for salvation. In today's scripture, Jesus says they will know we are Christians by our love for one another.
But do they? Do they see us demonstrating the kind of love Jesus shows to us?
Consider this ...
These words are found among Christ's final instructions to his disciples. He made it clear he wasn't giving a casual suggestion. "A new commandment I give to you."
What is so unique about the love of Christians that Jesus could say, "All men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." What kinds of things should we be doing in showing Christian love and brotherly kindness that grab the attention of those outside the faith?
This week we will be looking at a few of those things. Ask God to show you specific ways you can better encourage fellow believers. Ways that will help them . . . and grab the attention of unbelievers.
