Bible in a year: The Song Of Songs
"Good longevity". Greetings it is always we tell a colleague as a birthday greeting and prayer. Yes, longevity is often attributed to a happy life. What about people who are short age? Sungguhkah they are happy because it could no longer continue alive? Is it true that longevity is a guarantee of a happy life and full of meaning?
Figures mentioned in the Bible readings today have longevity: Adam 930 years (paragraph 5); Set 912 years (verse 8); Kenan, 910 years (paragraph 14); Jared 962 years (paragraph 20); Enoch 365 years (verse 23). If we examine, there are recurrent formulation in writing sentences. "X of Y years old, then she died." Description "he dead" shows that no matter how long the human lifespan to hundreds of years even humans would die. However, among the schemes, tucked a note returning interesting accompanying the life of Enoch. She was shorter than the other, but he is "living with God" (verse 24). Daily Indonesian Language version of the Bible translated: "Enoch's life has always been familiar with God". It is said, he did not die, but was appointed by God. "Short" is not a problem for him because he has been living for the Lord during his time in the world.
Longevity is the blessing of God; nothing wrong if want it. We could see more of the work of the Lord in the journey of life. However, how we lived, it is much more important. Mari begs God help us to live a meaningful life with him until we met with him in heaven; not only living in the world to then die in vain. A happy life is meaningful. -DEW
