Read: 1 Timothy 3: 1-13
Because those who serve with either have a good position so that the faith in Christ Jesus they can testify freely (1 Timothy 3: 13)
Bible in a year: Joshua 9-11
When Paul makes a list of qualifications for leaders and teachers in the Church, there is the interesting part of the list. Only one skill that dirujuknya, which is "capable of teaching". The rest is a list of characters and a testimony of life. The principle of service like what Paul wanted to emphasize through this list?
Paul goes on to list both, namely for the deacons, the people who are believed to be paying attention to the church members in need (v. 8-13). It turns out the principle is the same. Again the characters and living testimony to dominate the list. The servants should be someone who already know God (repentance) and not simply a love with Christianity. He is expected to have enough time to prove his conversion first before it is expected to serve specifically in public. It must be proven to grow and demonstrate Christian character is good. Quality of life will be a testimony and will also minimize the stumbling blocks that would hamper his Ministry. The good life will make someone serve freely. In fact, isn't much service fails and the waiters tripped because of bad character and not because of a lack of skill?
Interest and willingness to serve is not the only criteria for a waiter. Thus a strong longing to serve must be proven with the desire to provide the best in service. Are we seriously take care of ka rakter or our way of life that impede and undermine service? Character and behaviour which would it be? --PBS
