INTEGRITY OF A SERVANT

Read: 2 Corinthians 6:1-10

We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; (2 Corinthians 6:3-4)

Bible in a year: Numbers 5-6

Integrity by Big Indonesian Dictionary is "the quality, nature, or the circumstances indicate that full unity has the potential and ability that exudes authority, honesty". When simplified, this means that less is more: what we think should be the same as we say and what we say should be the same as the action we take; anywhere, anytime. This is especially true in our service to God.

Paul and his colleagues have proven their integrity as servants of God. Note the phrase "in every way" in verse 4. They maintain integrity in every part of life. Easy to practice love, patience, chastity, and obedience to the Holy Spirit when both situations and people we respect. However, the same attitude can be maintained when trouble struck, people cursing and slandering us, finance is not smooth, and the death threat? That is the example of Paul and his colleagues (verses 4-10). By maintaining the integrity of the servants of God, they can encourage the congregation to do the same thing (verse 1).

Let's examine ourselves, whether we have expressed the attitude of a servant of God in all parts of life, be it at home, church, workplace, schools, and communities? Or perhaps, other people see us as a stumbling block? Let's learn to be servants of God with integrity. Not be a stumbling block, but a blessing to others. - BWA

the status of "servant of God" is not only within the church's wall but it is valid at all times and all places
