Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Romans 15:7)
Bible in a year: Leviticus 1-4
Dietrich Bonhoeffer gave a warning that we need to hear: "People who can not be yourself, be careful in the community .... People who are not in community, be careful with the loneliness." In the two-way pull of this, many people look at time alone with God as something essential, whereas in community as an optional thing. Is it true that the Bible teaches that?
In his letter to the Romans, Paul shows how important community life for believers. People who already have a new life in Christ, not to please himself (verses 1-3), but must be in harmony with each other (verse 5), each received (verse 7), and encouraging each other (verse 14). It is to glorify God (verse 7). Each word or each other, is a translation of the Greek word: allelon. Allelon claim for recognition of the limitations we can grow your own, and awareness of the role that we need to meet the growing brethren. Allelon implies give and take in the community as an essential part of our personal spiritual journey.
Where does your tendency: in isolation or in community? How do you see the community: essential or optional? When a person starts to leave the fellowship of believers, usually he also began to leave the other spiritual disciplines. Let's obey the word of God by giving ourselves to support each other and build a community of God's family. - JOO
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24)
