CHOOSE HELL

Read: Romans 1:18-32

Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:32)

Bible in a year: Exodus 36-38

Could God be a loving human being throw into hell? This question has been troubling my mind for a long time. Until I understood the truth of his word.

In a letter to the Romans, Paul describes the good news of salvation from God. But earlier, he started with the bad news the spiritual condition of mankind. God declares that the human self can know Him and glorify Him (verses 19-20). However, the man turned his revelations and rebelled against his Creator (verses 21-23). Humans prefer to follow the desires of his heart (verses 24-25), desires (vv. 26-27), his thoughts (verses 28-29), and prefer to wallow in all manner of evil uncleanness (verses 30-31). Worse, even though people know the consequences of punishment, they not only continue to fight against God, but also rejoice when others are in the same rebellion (verse 32).

God does not throw men into hell. The rebels who ended up in hell chose to live there. God honored that choice. Citing C.S. Lewis: "In the end there will be two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'Be your will.'" Have we been welcomed with gratitude the grace of God and resignation that was? Or do we prefer to follow the desires of your heart as he alleges that do not follow the will of God as God the less we love? - JOO
