SPIRIT OF RECOGNITION TO GOD

Read: Ephesians 1:15-23

...the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. (Ephesians 1:17)

Bible in a year: Exodus 28-29

In a Bible conference, Prof. Kopfwissen Ludwig of the University Wissenheim present a paper "The Doctrine of Justification by Faith Paul". He explained this doctrine very well. At the end of his lecture, all the audience gave thunderous applause because they were so amazed. However, before returning to his seat, he made a very surprising comment, "But, it was all nonsense!" The experts Bible was not a believer. How can someone who studied and mastered the word of God, but do not believe in God?

This is probably because the word of God never stand alone to touch and change people's hearts. The power of God's word comes from the work of the Holy Spirit in one's heart. Thus Paul's beliefs. So he prayed that the Holy Spirit helps the believer to always know the Lord (verse 17). Holy Spirit to illuminate our hearts to understand hope, glory, power, and the work of the Father through Christ to redeem the world (verses 18-21).

Without the Holy Spirit, we will not experience the transforming power of His words in this life. John Owen, the theologian of the 17th century, warns us, "If the Holy Spirit does not work with His word the Bible is just a collection of dead letters." Do we always rely on the Holy Spirit while reading and listening to his word? Pray that the Holy Spirit open our hearts every time dealing with his word. - JIM
