HANGING HOPE

Read: Luke 7:11-17

When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, "Don't cry." (Luke 7:13)


Bible in a year: Acts 11-14

When her husband died, she was determined to be a widow to raise her only child. He fought against the harshness of life, including insults and scorn of neighbors that wary of the widow. He thought, "Never mind that I work hard now for my son will mature soon, and he was the hope of my golden years." But suddenly, her only son died. Instantly deprived of his life expectancy. Until he had to ask, "Why else would I live?" Nain along the village road to the cemetery, the tears have dried. Although people will lament the departure of his son, no one understands her grief over the loss of livelihood.

When he met with Jesus, grief choking throat. He was no longer able to say, pleading for help. Is my Savior only be moved if required, and if there is faith in Him? When his "lame", the Savior understood. He cares about the hearts of screaming without words. With great love He said: "Do not cry." Speech is not merely a consolation in times of grief. For, He is God who has power over death and life. So, with full power of Jesus exclaimed: "Young man, arise ..." (verse 14). Jesus not only raised the young man, but also revived hopes of the widow.

Who do you hang on to hope for the future? To the spouse, children, property, insurance, or something else? Remember that all that could be dead and gone. So, expect the source of life, even Jesus, who is always able and willing to care for us - SST
