Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10)
Bible in a year: John 11-14
Henry Weiss who has changed his name to Houdini, was a master escape from the trap: the rope, the cell door, handcuffs, and so on. However, once while in a small prison called the British Isles, he had difficulty in work on the key in these cells. Typically, in thirty seconds he can unlock the cell, but not this time. He was tired, frustrated, and desperate. So, he did not do anything anymore. He paused, then leaned into the door. Strangely, the door was immediately opened because it was not locked! When he was silent, he found a solution to his problem.
This is probably a rare event. However, he reminded us that in the life, we need to have special times to be silent, especially at the feet of God. Silence makes our mind calm, our emotions under control, and we have God's wisdom to solve the problem. Unfortunately, we often do not sit at the feet of God when trouble comes. We even thought about his own problems we are facing, and busy looking for ways to overcome them. The result, we are frustrated and desperate.
So, why do not we try to give everything to God? When doing so, the psalmist experienced how God acts. And, he testified that God is "a refuge and strength, as a helper in a very evident distress" (verse 1). The way out and the answer is probably beyond our expectations, even very different in ways that we imagine. If he proved to be always helpful, why do we delay to sit still on his feet? - PK
GOD IS NEVER LACK OF WAYS TO HELP US SO WHY DO NOT WE RELY ON HIM?
