DOOR

Read: John 10:1-10

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:9)

Bible in a year: Mark 11-13

One of the designation of Jesus that I find very interesting is the "door". Jesus himself makes this title, as described in the today's reading. As the cage door for the sheep, so Jesus became the source of salvation and life for his people. This is a very beautiful metaphor.

We know that the sheep are safe after they entered the cage through the door. We also know, the sheep can eat after they exit the cage through the door. As the "Door", Jesus is an entrance for us, His sheep, to salvation. Through Him we are safe. Through Him we "eat" and live.

However, other things I find interesting is the fact that many people stunned or hesitate when being in front of the "Door". Instead of trying to pass to experience the safety and lives, they even questioned many things about the "Door". There are people who do not like the look of him: Isn't He too simple, the carpenter's son, to be the Saviour of men? Some others are comparing Him with the other "doors": Isn't He just one of many religious leaders? There also are demanding an explanation: how this "Doors" can lead to salvation and eternal life?

As the people of the "Door", we must respond to all questions as good as possible. However, let us not be goaded into transfixed in an attempt to give a logical explanation. Sometimes effective way to convince those who doubt in front of the "Door" is the way of Philip: "Come and see" (John 1:46-49) - SAT

CHRISTIAN PEOPLE HAVE TO BE RELIABLE WITNESS ABOUT LIFE BEHIND THE SAFETY DOOR
