TWO ROBBERS, ONE JESUS

Baca: Luke 23:33-43

Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." (Luke 23:42)

Bacaan tahunan: Luke 1-4

Two people, in one place, one time, faced with the same thing, it can make two different decisions. This happened on two robbers were crucified with Jesus. Each left and right beside him. They accept the punishment for a crime they did.

Before getting to the cross, two thieves are probably already experienced in the world of crime. But, who was the man in their midst? What crime is he doing? Why is He silent when beaten in such a way? Is it true that He calls Himself the King?

The first robber blaspheming Jesus. Perhaps he was thinking, if people who do good and evil have the same fate, then why trouble yourself with a little kindness and empathy? The second robber, though at first blasphemy, was stunned by the figure of Jesus. There is resignation and attitude correction from him. There is a belief that the truth is still there even though caught in the cross: Jesus was innocent. I'm guilty.

To Jesus, the second robber asks: "Jesus, remember me when You come into your kingdom." He just asked Jesus to remember. That's more than enough for him. However, Jesus gave far more than he requested. Not just to remember, but that day he will be with Jesus in paradise.

Two people, one time, one place, one event, looking at one of Jesus. What they see in Jesus can differ from one another, but the people who pick the best, have been together with Jesus in paradise that day. What about us? - SL

THERE ARE MANY VIEWS ABOUT JESUS BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT IS HOW WE SEE JESUS?
