STRENGTHENING THE WEAK

Baca: ACTS 11:19-30

Bacaan tahunan: Nehemiah 4-6

In the history of the early church, Barnabas was known not for performing great miracles, but for his good heart, full of the Holy Spirit, and faith. When many Jews in Jerusalem doubted Saul's conversion, Barnabas stood up and tried to convince him before the apostles. When news of the Gospel spread to Antioch, Barnabas was sent to strengthen the faith of those who had just believed. He did not seek attention, but instead built up others to be strong in the Lord.

Today's Word of God speaks to us that true faith does not focus on oneself. True faith is always contagious, brings spirit, and builds others in the love of God. When Barnabas saw God's work among non-Jews, instead of being suspicious, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain faithful to the Lord (verse 23). He also involved Saul in serving together, an action that would later have a great impact on the spread of the Gospel to all nations.

Barnabas, with all his good deeds, reminds us that God calls us to be strengtheners, not critics; to be encouragers, not obstacles. Undeniably, we live in a world full of voices that weaken, but those filled with the Holy Spirit will always ignite the spirit of faith wherever they are. When we encourage and help someone to stand firm in the Lord, we are doing His will. --SYS/www.renunganharian.net

TRUE FAITH NOT ONLY UPHOLDS ITSELF, BUT ALSO STRENGTHENS OTHERS TO STAND FIRM IN THE LORD.
