ONE SPOON OF LOVE

Baca: COLOSSIANS 3:5-17

Bacaan tahunan: Matthew 1-4

Adding a certain spoon of seasoning to a dish makes the dish different. If the portion of the seasoning is right, it will produce a more delicious food so that it feels delicious to eat. Yes, one spoon of seasoning can change the taste of food.

We can imagine love as one of the seasonings that we can add in our relationships with others. One spoon of love is added to every action of ours. It may seem trivial, but the result will definitely be different. It becomes better, sweeter, warmer, peaceful, and serene. When facing annoying people, adding one spoon of love helps us to be patient or forgive (verse 13). We can even rebuke them with love, not with hatred or anger. When there is a threat of division, adding one spoon of love can be the glue that unites. When selfish behavior begins to emerge, adding one spoon of love will encourage us to start paying attention to the interests of others. One spoon of love can help us not to weaken the spirit of others, but to give them encouragement.

Comparing the act of practicing love to adding one spoon of seasoning may make it easier for us to do it. We don't have to imagine a spectacular and sacrificial act, but start with small actions. Just one spoon. However, when we are able to do it, then the love of God flowing within us will be channeled to many people. Therefore, let's add one spoon of love in every word and action of ours.

EVEN THOUGH THE ACT OF LOVE WE MAKE MAY SEEM SMALL, BUT THE IMPACT CAN PRODUCE THINGS THAT ARE NOT INSIGNIFICANT
