NURTURING FAITH

Baca: 2 PETER 1:3-15

Bacaan tahunan: Acts 14-15

There are many tasks that farmers must do to make their crops fruitful. Starting from preparing the land, sowing seeds, planting seedlings, taking care of plants by watering and fertilizing, controlling pests and so on. If a farmer only plants seeds without taking care of them, it is impossible for the plants to grow well, let alone produce fruit.

Faith in God also needs nurturing. It is not enough to just confess as a disciple of Jesus and be done with it. Faith as the foundation of Christian life must be carried out by doing good deeds. Having knowledge of how to live wisely. Learning self-control. Enduring in difficulties. Striving to live more in line with God's will. Learning to love fellow believers and showing love to all people through actions. In this way, our faith will grow and prove that we truly know Jesus.

Faith is not something static. Faith must grow. And the growth of faith is not an automation that can run on its own without effort. Faith requires active participation. Therefore, the growth of faith must be pursued. Confession of faith in God should drive us to strive to develop self-qualities with the image of Christ. It is true that this process is not always easy. However, when we do not move forward, the currents of the world will sweep us away. Only when we earnestly strive to live out faith in God, we are strengthened and able to reach heavenly goals.

SALVATION IS GOD'S CALL, BUT BELIEVERS MUST STRENGTHEN THE CALL WITH LIVING IN OBEDIENCE
