MEANINGFUL LIFE

Baca: PSALM 63

Bacaan tahunan: 1 Kings 15-17

Being 85 years old does not diminish the spirit of Abou Khodr from Lebanon to swim for two hours in the Mediterranean Sea every day. Regardless of the weather, whether it is raining or winter, many people admire him. He truly finds happiness in the activity he is engaged in after feeling lonely and long sadness after retiring from his job as a ship worker.

Unlike most people, our old age as children of God is not synonymous with passivity and various limitations that cause us to simply pass the days. Until old age, the faithfulness of the Lord is still experienced. Thus, whatever happens, we can face the days with enthusiasm and always find activities, where we can feel the presence of the Most Compassionate God so that no emptiness covers our hearts. Happiness will radiate in the days we go through through our belief that He always holds our hands so that there is nothing to worry about.

Do we currently feel that life is just a matter of counting days? Have we lost the passion to live the days that exist? If yes, let us draw closer to the Lord and our longing for Him will be satisfied by His great faithfulness. Heavenly joy will overshadow us along the way, as experienced by the Psalmist. --KSD/www.renunganharian.net
